Advantages of this kind of access are real time update (ebooks are available as soon as they are published), and possibility of a fulltext search, that is a search with keywords into the whole content of each ebook and not only in its description (e.g. just title, author etc.).
Disadvantages are the need of repeating the search again and again for every publisher and the little differences amongst the search interfaces in every platform.

To enable a centralized access to the resources, the Library is engaged in making ebooks available also in the main Library catalogue [Primo], by importing ebooks description in it. All of our ebook collections, either acquired or under annual subscription, are now available in the main catalogue. Update of available resources will be performed on a regular basis, according to the different policies for disclosing metadata adopted by each publisher.

Main advantage of the access via the main catalogue is the availability of a unique access point to both printed books and ebooks purchased by any publisher. Disadvantages are the lack of the fulltext search, since only main information about ebooks (such as title, authors etc.) are searchable, and time delay in availability, since ebooks descriptions are made available by the publisher and can be imported only on a scheduled basis.
