How are we organized?
The Information & Communication Technology department (ICT) is responsible for the activities regarding the digital processing of information and communication. The four areas of competence are:
The tasks of IT management are the management and overall coordination
of the Division I&CT, the strategic planning
of the “informatization” of the university (in agreement with the university management), the planning of the budget and acquisition of the funds, controlling (evaluation of goods and suppliers, project controlling, budget control).
The purpose of this area of competence is the design, implementation and support of the entire information and communication infrastructure
(networks, servers, PCs, printers, audio/video equipment, etc.), which are the foundation for IT operations at the university. To meet the requirements of research and teaching, but also of information and data security, extensive measures are needed in this area.
This area is responsible for the development of information technology projects
with a stronger focus on research than on traditional development, always in close collaboration with the relevant stakeholders. Among other things, this area covers the development of the knowledge management for digital libraries, which is done in collaboration with the University Library. Furthermore, the support in eLearning and in the field of security are among the most outstanding projects.
The objective of the special software
, which is developed in this scope of the department, is to simplify and improve the service for the customer
, to streamline administrative processes and to automate routine tasks in terms of eGovernment. In other words, the quality of service should be increased.
