Credit Points and Lecture Hours
- 4 credit points lectures usually comprise 24 lecture hours + 12 exercise hours + 16 student office hours
- 8 credit points lectures usually comprise 48 lecture hours + 24 exercise hours + 32 student office hours
- 1 credit point = 6 lecture hours + 3 exercise hours + office hours (= 2/3 of the lecture hours)
Presenting your course to the students (Course Presentation Forms)
Well in advance before the start of lectures every lecturer has to fill in our standard
and send it to the Faculty Administration (Ms. Federica Cumer and Ms. Isolde Veith).
Please note that it is very important to detail the following points in the CPF:
- written and/or oral examination;
- midterm (if any) and/or project;
- percentage of the final grade covered by each of the above parts.
Attention! In case you plan to offer a midterm, it is mandatory to offer also a 100% final examination. Students have a right to pass the exam with maximum marks, even if they apply only for the final exam. In alternative to midterms, they can be requested to complete a project.
Example:
- one final examination only (100% of mark);
- one final examination (100% of mark) and alternatively midterm (30% of mark) and final exam (70% of mark);
- one final exam (100% of mark) and alternatively a project (30% of mark) and final exam (70% of mark).
Further instructions can be found on the Course Presentation Form itself.
You can find the current CPFs for all lectures here:
Please coordinate with other lecturers in order to avoid overlapping of topics!

List of enrolled students
Students can enroll to an exam up to three days before the date of the exam (four days if the exam takes place on a Monday). Lecturers can monitor enrollments by accessing the "ICT Services", section "... for professors" (see right column on this page).
Exam Cover Sheets
If the examination is written, the lecturer has to preface his Exam Paper with our standard
Please fill in the Exam Cover Sheet (blue part) indicating course name and examination date, and attach it to each copy of the Exam Paper.
Students have to fill in the Exam Cover Sheet with their data and *sign it*.
Exam Record Forms
What they are
Exam Record Forms are used to officially record the grade of each student. They are printed by the Student Secretariat, one for each student enrolled to the exam. Once the filled out Exam Record Forms are handed back, the Student Secretariat registers the grades in the database of the Academic Information Systems (AIS).
Where to get them, where and when to hand them back
Exam Record Forms are ready the day before the exam date; they have to be fetched at the Faculty Administration (Ms. Federica Cumer and Ms. Isolde Veith). Lecturers have two weeks time in order to fill them out and hand them back to the Faculty Administration, together with the corrected and graded Exam Papers.
How to fill out the Exam Record Forms
- if the exam is oral, write the exam questions in the foreseen space;
- circle the grade twice;
- in case of oral examination only, have the student have sign the Exam Record Form;
- *always* sign all Examination Record Forms, independent of promotion, failure or absence of the student (signatures of the first and second member of the Examination Commission).
Who has to sign what?
- written only examination: the first and second member of the Examination Commission have to sign Exam Record Form; the student has to sign the Exam Cover Sheet (not the Exam Record Form);
- written and oral examination: the first and second member of the Examination Commission have to sign Exam Record Form; the student has to sign both the Exam Cover Sheet and the Exam Record Form;
- oral only examination: the first and second member of the Examination Commission have to sign Exam Record Form; the student also has to sign the Exam Record Form.
Exam Grades
For the evaluation of exams of single courses, universities in Italy use a 30-point scale ("trentesimi"):
- 30/30 is the highest grade; it is sometimes given "cum laude", with honours, when performance is considered exceptional;
- 18/30 is the lowest passing grade.
The grades of each students are automatically displayed in his on-line study career when the grades are registered in the in the database of the Academic Information Systems (see "Exam Record Forms). Additionally, lectures may publish the list with the final grades associated to the respective student number (no name and surname) on their personal course web page or on the Reserve Collection (by accessing the"ICT Services", section "... for professors", see right column on this page).
Certification of Attendance to Exams
Working students who need to hand in a certification of attendance to exams to their employer, can download and print the appropriate form and have it signed by the lecturer.
Tutoring during an Internship
Attention: Students need to fill out and hand in the documents for their internship to the Careers Advisory Service *before* they start working with lecturers in the various research facilities.
The Careers Advisory Service needs four weeks to process and complete the insurance of students, and only afterwards students are allowed to start working. Working hours done before this deadline are lost and do not count towards the internship!
More information about tutoring during an Internship is available at the Careers Advisory Service.
Parking
It is possible to use the university parking lots during teaching activities: parking lots # 5, 26 and 27 are available for the Faculty.
Attention: you have to make a reservation ahead by sending an e-mail to Ms. Sabine Zanin (Phone: 0471-016007) at least one day before, indicating the desired date and time.
Please note that the University will refund parking taxes for external parking lots only in case all university parking lots were occupied at the time of external parking.
Hotels
Lecturers arriving from outside Trentino South Tyrol/Alto Adige can spend the night in one of the hotels that have an arrangement with the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano.
Please remember that it is possible to make use of such services only if it's strictly necessary to guarantee the regular execution of the didactic activities.
It is the lecturer's responsibility to reserve the rooms.
