When the full text is available, why do I not always come directly to the article level?SFX takes the user as close as possible to the article. Sometimes, because of the structure of the publisher's web site, SFX cannot link directly to the full text.

In Lexis Nexis for example, SFX links as far as the journal title level from which point the user can search for the specific article.
