ALMALAUREAWhat is it?

It is a database managed by a Consortium of Italian universities with the support of the Ministry for Education, Universities and Research. AlmaLaurea was created with the aim to put companies and graduates into contact with each other and be the main reference point for everyone involved (academics, employers, etc) in university study, professional life and young people.

What does it do?

AlmaLaurea analyses the internal efficiency of each university’s course and the characteristics and performance of graduates through the Graduates’ Profile and the relationship between that and the Working conditions enjoyed by the graduates.
The Graduates’ Profile is created through answers obtained from a questionnaire that all graduates who come from universities that belong to AlmaLaurea are asked to complete. This profile helps to monitor and improve the universities’ ability to train their graduates and to provide transparency. 

The Working conditions enjoyed by graduates are ascertained through telephone interviews or questionnaires. Graduates are monitored from when they enter the workforce and then for five years following their graduation. It is an extremely useful and important tool to evaluate the university system and record the attitudes of the world of work towards graduates.

AlmaLaurea is also a contact point between graduates, universities and Italian and foreign companies. It allows young graduates to find a job more easily, it helps companies find new staff and it reduces the amount of time between applying for and starting a new job by allowing graduates to put their CVs online and companies to advertise online.
Students who attend universities that belong to AlmaLaurea have the opportunity to make use of various services that help them to start their careers or go on to postgraduate education.

AlmaLaurea and the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano

Since 2004 the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano has been part of the AlmaLaurea consortium that currently represents more than 70% of all Italian universities.
Through AlmaLaurea the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano’s main aim is to analyse the efficiency of its degree courses and its services and monitor the working conditions and careers of its graduates.
Further, the data that is collected through surveys and questionnaires represents important quality indicators for the University when assessed by the Ministry of Universities and Research.

Information for FUB students

All students enrolled at the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, once they have handed over the form for the tile of the Degree Thesis to the responsible office, will receive an email where they are asked to fill in a questionnaire. The receipt given by AlmaLaurea once this has been done must be handed into the Careers Advisory Service or attached to the application to sit the final exam.
The fact that handing in this receipt is a requirement for being able to sit the final exam was a strategic decision made by this University so that it is able to monitor the quality of its services more easily. Some of the documentation created from the questionnaire can then be used in individual graduate’s CVs, which are put into the AlmaLaurea database only if the graduate gives his/her consent.

Instructions for filling in the AlmaLaurea questionnaire (for filling in the questionnaire you have to go into the Student Portal and click on <AlmaLaurea>. After handing over the form you will get the authorization by e-mail)

Please remember that:

• You must hand in the AlmaLaurea receipt. You must attach the AlmaLaurea receipt to your application to sit your final degree exam if you have not already handed it in to the Careers Advisory Service (Decision of the University Council no. 273/2009).
• You must decide if you want to publish your CV on the AlmaLaurea website. If you do decide to do this, you can update it at any time through the AlmaLaurea website http://www.almalaurea.it/
• If you sit a second university degree, you must fill in the questionnaire again.
