Online exam enrolmentEnrolment for the exams trough the Student Portal is absolutely necessary in order to be allowed to sit the exam. Enrolments and deletions have to take place respecting the deadlines established in your Faculty’s exams regulation. Exams sit with no online enrolment are not valid. Your Faculty administration will inform you via email when the exam session is open.

Exams recognition
Once you are enrolled at the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano and you wish to shorten your university career, you must take your request for recognition of the exams you passed – at another university or in another course of the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano – to your Faculty Secretariat (the form is available on the right of this page).
Subsequently the people responsible for this task in your Faculty will evaluate your request and inform you in writing as to which year of course you can enrol.

Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is an exam session?
An exam session is the period when exams are offered. A winter session, a summer session and an autumn session are usually available. Exam sessions are established in the academic calendar by the Senate in agreement with the faculties. The academic calendar is available from the “Students” homepage.

How do I enrol for exams?
As soon as the exam session has been opened, all students receive an email with information on how to enrol for exams as well as how to cancel their enrolments through the Student Portal. N.B.! Enrolment for exams (or cancellation of the same) must happen respecting the deadlines established in your Faculty’s exams regulation.

Why can’t I enrol for an exam?
There could be many reasons. Apart from temporary technical problems, you might not have paid all your fees, missed the enrolment deadline (see your Faculty’s exams regulation), or you might not have inserted the correct exam in your study plan. You also might not have passed the language exam that allows you to take the exam in question.

What happens if I can no longer cancel my enrolment to an exam I no longer want to take?
You should contact your Faculty Secretariat, so that the Professor will be informed if no students are enrolled for his/her exam.
In your exam sheet “non presentato” (absent) will be inserted. It won’t have a negative effect on your university career. You can then enrol for the same exam in the next exam session.
Please note: Some Faculties allow to sit the same exam twice only in the same academic year. The Faculty of Education does not allow to enrol twice for the same exam in the same session.

How many times can I enrol for the same exam?
School of Economics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Design and Art and Faculty of Education
You can enrol twice for the same exam in one academic year.
Faculty of Computer Science
See Faculty's FAQ.

What happens if I don’t pass an exam?
The fact of failing an exam doesn’t have a negative effect on your studies. You can enrol again for the same exam in the next session. You can only enrol for the same exam twice in an academic year (except for the Faculty of Computer Science).

Why is it that in my study career I can’t see the exams that I have passed?
The exam sheet has probably not been recorded yet. The Student secretariat registers exam sheets regularly, as soon as they are submitted by the faculties. If the exam sheet has not been recorded yet, it might not yet have been submitted to the Student secretariat: The sheet could be incomplete (e.g., the mark or the signature of a commission member could be missing) and it must be rectified. It is advisable to check that the exam sheet has been completed correctly when you are in the exam.

How does the recognition of exams and extra activities work?
The application form for recognition of exams should be delivered to the Faculty Administration and will be evaluated in the first session of the Study commissions. These sessions normally take place monthly. Your Faculty Secretariat will then let you know whether these exams/activities have been recognised.
