The Bologna Process was started in 1999 by 31 European Higher Education Ministers  and committed themselves to creating a European Higher Education Area through intergovernmental cooperation and voluntary convergence towards common principles, actions and policies.

Tens of thousands of students around the world are taking part of courses organized by well known professors. MOOCs are coming to Bolzano now. Should we do it? Should we forget it? Professor Mueller will talk about smart apps that allow users, with the help of sensors and networks, to do a great variety of things, from tracking their friends to controlling remote devices. At the core of such smart systems are self-adaptive systems. Self-adaptive systems are implemented using four key technologies: runtime models, context management, feedback control theory, and run-time verification and validation.

The lecture will start with the discussion about the concept of innovation from both a historical as well as a current perspective. It will cover the concept of entrepreneurial ecosystem, with specific reference to the Silicon Valley ecosystem and its unique elements.
