PhD in

Management and Economics on Organizational and Institutional Outliers

Our ambition is to offer not just another PhD program in Management and Economics, but a special one with a focus on Organizational and Institutional Outliers.

Our PhD programme in Management and Economics is a 4-year full-time programme which emphasizes issues, phenomena, and corresponding research questions that deal with the exception rather than the mainstream. Topic specific individual tutoring and mentoring, as well as research stays abroad are a further plus of the programme.

Our international faculty ensures a variety of research opportunities reaching from 'Creating Value with Accounting: "New” Information for “New” Business Models', and 'Forecast Precision and Trading Profitability of Financial Analysts', to ' Field Experiments in Behavioral Personnel Economics', and ' Internationalization Strategies of Medium-sized Firms with Peripheral HQs - Liability or Virtue of Remoteness?'.

Course structure

The PhD is of cumulative nature, i.e. a collection of scientific papers with a comprehensive introduction and conclusion that highlight the research objectives and the findings. Monographs are not accepted.

The first half of the PhD programme is highly focused on providing PhD students with necessary skills, competencies, and tools to successfully conduct theory-based empirical research in different fields and with opportunities to build their own scientific network through attending international conferences, visiting scholarships, and summer schools. The second half should be primarily dedicated to completing, submitting, and successfully publishing a couple of high quality research papers in renowned peer-reviewed journals.
