While implementing Industry 4.0, organizational environments become more global, dynamic, andcompetitive, which is intensifying contradictory demands, i.e. tensions, withinfirms/organizations. In light of the resource and knowledge intensiveness of this often multi-year process, this interactive workshop aims to give insights into:

• the central tensions emerging andpersisting during the Industry 4.0 transformation of companies and
• how firms can address these tensions via a set of management actions.

The workshop will first overview the most important Industry 4.0 technologies and implementation barriers. Second, a brief description of the concept of organizational tensions will be given and various key insights about tensions and resolution strategies will be illustrated to the workshop participants.

Then, a framework including the main tensions in Industry 4.0 implementation will be presented. The workshop participants will discuss the organizational tensions identified from previous academic and empirical evidence.

Finally, after a brief introduction on the resolution strategies to transform Industry4.0 organizational tensions into manageable situations, the participants willdiscuss the topic considering their practical experiences and applicationscenarios.
