The course aims to provide a basic understanding of the key aspects of the internal and external history of the Ladin language and its current sociolinguistic situation, and introduces the acquisition of Ladin in its various forms. Drawing on empirical data, it addresses key concepts, methods and theoretical approaches in the field of language acquisition research.

The course deals with Ladin linguistics and with the topic of language acquisition (Ladin as L1, L2 or L3).

Obietifs formatifs
Knowledge and understanding of the key characteristics (both synchronic and diachronic) of the Ladin language, as well as of the key language acquisition processes relating to Ladin within its multilingual context Applying knowledge and understanding by relating the key characteristics of the Ladin language to parallel and divergent structures in the neighbouring languages of German and Italian, as well as in Grisons Romansh and Friulian; and by applying the language acquisition processes to the concrete reality of children in the Ladin valleys Judgement expressed through the ability to reflect on, discuss and explore the content covered in greater depth, as well as through the use of appropriate and academically rigorous language in both oral and written communication Communication expressed through the ability to present the knowledge acquired in an effective and well-argued manner, both orally and in writing Learning strategies Expressed through the ability to use the knowledge acquired to explore and expand on the topics covered independently

Sort de ejam
At the end of the course, students’ competence will be assessed by means of a written final examination (consisting of open-ended and/or closed questions). This examination covers the individual module sections. In addition, assignments may be set during the course, which will be taken into account in the final mark. If the overall examination is not passed, the parts that were passed will be credited.

Criters de valutazion
In the final examination and in any assignments, your work will be assessed on its quality (in terms of both content and form); that is, the accuracy of the content, the clarity of your reasoning, the relevance of your answers, your ability to present a subject clearly, the appropriateness of your language and its formal correctness, and, where relevant, your ability to self-correct.

Module C — Riflessione sulla lingua: applicazioni didattiche (lab.)

The laboratory aims to explore aspects of the grammar of the varieties of Ladin and through an inductive, problem-solving approach. It pursues two main objectives: (1) to deepen students' knowledge of Ladin grammar and foster a broader understanding of language, and (2) to introduce, through the analysis of authentic examples, didactic approaches to language awareness and language reflection that can be applied in pre- and primary school.
