Tanja Mimmo

Short bio

Tanja Mimmo is a full professor of Agricultural Chemistry at the Free University of Bolzano, specializing in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition. Her research focuses on rhizosphere processes, rhizodepositions, soil-plant-microorganism interactions, and soil contamination by heavy metals and microplastics. She has authored over 160 scientific papers and has supervised more than 20 bachelor theses, five master theses, and seven PhD theses. Her academic career includes roles such as Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation since 2024, Chair of the Working Group on Agroecology since 2021, and Director of the Competence Centre for Plant Health from 2020 to 2025. She became a full professor in 2019, after serving as an associate professor and researcher at the same university. She has been involved in several significant research projects, including ECHO, HuMUS, MicroDARWIN, BioViSo, NUMICS, RHIZOPRO, HBPonics, WOOD-UP, and LIFE-OPTIMAL2012.
