We cordially invite researchers and practitioners to participate in the 33rd Annual Meeting of the German Finance Association (DGF). The conference will take place from September 30 to October 2, 2027 at the University City Campus, Universitätsplatz 1, in the heart of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy.
The conference aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss the latest theoretical and empirical research from all areas of finance, banking, and insurance.
The event will begin on Thursday, September 30, 2027, with a doctoral workshop and a Women-in-Finance Event. In the evening, all participants are invited to join the conference get-together. The main conference will take place on Friday, October 1, and Saturday, October 2, 2027. On Friday evening, participants are invited to attend the Gala Dinner with Best Paper Award Celebration at Schloss Maretsch.
The Call for Papers is planned to be published in January 2027. Further information on submissions, registration, the conference program, and special events will be announced in due course.

Keynote Speaker
We are pleased to announce that Professor Marco Pagano has agreed to deliver the keynote address at the 33rd Annual Meeting of the German Finance Association.
Marco Pagano is Professor at the University of Naples Federico II and Director of the Centre for Studies in Economics and Finance (CSEF). He holds a PhD in Economics from MIT and a BA in Economics from the University of Cambridge. He is a Fellow of the European Corporate Governance Institute, the European Economic Association, and the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance, as well as a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.
His research focuses on corporate finance, market microstructure, banking, financial regulation, and the relationship between finance and labor. His work has appeared in leading economics and finance journals, including the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Economic Studies. He served as Managing Editor of the Review of Finance from 2003 to 2011 and as chair or vice-chair of the Advisory Scientific Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board from 2011 to 2019.
Best Paper Awards
The best overall conference paper and the best doctoral paper will both be awarded prizes. Further information about the awards and the selection process will be announced in due course.

The Gala Dinner with Best Paper Award Celebration will take place on Friday, October 1, 2027, at Schloss Maretsch, located in the city center of Bozen-Bolzano.

We invite submissions of recent theoretical and empirical research papers from all areas of finance, banking, and insurance.
Submission Guidelines
• Submissions are free of charge for DGF members. If you are not currently a DGF member, a submission fee of €40.00 will apply.
• Submissions are accepted exclusively through the online submission system.
• The submission period runs from March 1 to April 15, 2027. The submission deadline is April 15, 2027, at 11:59 p.m.
• Submissions are subject to a double-blind review process. Papers must therefore be submitted in anonymous form, without information identifying the authors or their affiliations.
• Only full papers written in English and submitted in PDF format will be considered for review.
• Each submission must be accompanied by an abstract of no more than 120 words.

Applications for the Pre-conference Doctoral Workshop
A doctoral workshop will take place on Thursday, September 30, 2027, at Campus Bozen. Applications for the workshop must be submitted separately from papers submitted to the main conference.
Applications must be submitted to Prof. Dr. Erik Theissen by July 3, 2027. Further information about the required application materials and submission procedure will be provided in the separate Doctoral Workshop Call for Participation.
Applications for Women-in-Finance Early-stage Research Presentations
Early-stage research presentations for female doctoral candidates will take place as part of the Women-in-Finance Event on Thursday, September 30, 2027, at Campus Bozen. Applications must be submitted separately from submissions to the main conference.
Applicants should submit an abstract of between half a page and one page by August 15, 2027.
Submissions must be in PDF format and sent to annabelle.broestl[at]uni-mannheim.de. Abstracts will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

What the Conference Fee Includes
The conference fee covers both main conference days, Thursday’s conference get-together, lunch and the Gala Dinner with Best Paper Award Celebration on Friday, a takeaway lunch on Saturday, as well as drinks and light refreshments at the conference venues.

Pre-conference Doctoral Workshop
A doctoral workshop will take place on Thursday, September 30, 2027, at Campus Bozen.
The workshop provides doctoral researchers with an opportunity to present and discuss their work. Application details are provided under Call for Papers.
Women-in-Finance Event
We are delighted to host the 5th Women-in-Finance Event as part of the Annual Meeting of the German Finance Association in Bozen-Bolzano. We warmly invite all female finance researchers to join us for this special gathering on Thursday, September 30, 2027.
The event offers a valuable opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and engage with fellow researchers in the field of finance. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss shared experiences, network with peers, and gain insights from accomplished female role models in academia. The event is particularly suited to early-career researchers seeking inspiration, support, and community within the academic finance field.
Participation in the Women-in-Finance Event is free of additional charge. Participants can register for the event during the general conference registration process.
As part of the Women-in-Finance Event, female doctoral candidates can present research ideas or early-stage projects and receive feedback from accomplished female researchers and other participants.
The session gives doctoral candidates an opportunity to present and discuss ideas that are not yet sufficiently developed for submission to the main conference, with the aim of helping these projects develop into full research papers.
