This Seminar, within the Research Seminar Series: Ways of Knowing, explores the core assumptions of RTT: how individual preferences, incentives, and strategic choices can help explain collective and political outcomes. Prof. Giannetti will expand on key concepts and models while asking what rational choice can—and cannot—tell us about human behaviour. Particular attention will be paid to its applications in political science and to the broader methodological questions raised by explaining complex social phenomena through individual choice.
