Short bio
Sónia Cabral Matos is an associate professor of transformation-engaged design research at the Faculty of Design and Art. In her research and teaching, she explores design theory, approaches, and methods for engaging communities and audiences in visions and processes of eco-social transformation with a specific focus on children and youth.
In addition to teaching and research, she currently leads the trans-form research cluster and serves as a Faculty Delegate for non-EU Student Integration (appointed by the dean). She is also a member of the Research Ethics Committee.

Research Focuses
Within the context of her research, she is the Principal Investigator of 'Playground: Designing Visions of Play in a More-than-Human-World', funded by UNIBZ's start-up grant, and co-PI of HERE: Heritage Education: enhancing citizenship in a shaped-by-diversity region, developed in collaboration with the Competence Centre for School Inclusion.

She is currently a research collaborator at the Interactive Technologies Institute, an interdisciplinary research institution hosted at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. Past affiliations include the Art, Culture and Technology program at the MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology, School of Architecture and Planning.
Before joining unibz, Sónia Matos was a Lecturer at the School of Design, Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh.
