Karl von Ellenrieder received the BS in aeronautics & astronautics from MIT in 1990 and the MS and PhD in aeronautics & astronautics from Stanford University in 1992 and 1998, respectively. From 1998-2002 he was a research fellow at Monash University (Melbourne Australia) and from 2003-2016 he was a Professor of Ocean Engineering at Florida Atlantic University (Dania Beach, FL USA). Since 2016 he has been Professor of Automation at the University of Bolzano. Professor von Ellenrieder is a Senior Member of the IEEE Control Systems Society and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society. He is currently Editor-in-Chief Elect of the IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering.
