Presentation at the Int. Workshop „Pathways to Future Regional Development“
The international workshop „Pathways to Future Regional Development“ was organised by the Institute for Economic Research of the Chamber of Commerce of Bolzano/Bozen (WIFO) and the Institute for Regional Development of Eurac Research, in collaboration with the Regional Studies Association (RSA) on 11 and 12 June 2026.
The presentation, entitled “Tourism’s contribution to regional sustainable development: An occupation-based modelling and circular economic perspective,” demonstrates how central socio-economic effects of tourism at the regional level can be quantified using an extended input-output methodology. Prof. Matthias Fuchs shows which multipliers and indicator models are most suitable for reliably determining tourism’s contribution to the regional circular economy, occupational development as well as to measure its distributional efficiency at the regional level.
