Short bio
Federica Viganò, PhD, is RTD-B in Economic Sociology. She obtained her PhD in Philosophy from the University of Milan, where she also completed her postdoctoral research. She was awarded a DAAD scholarship at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and has been visiting scholar at the University of Sussex (UK) in 2017 and, at INRAE Paris Est, within the LISIS (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Sciences Innovations Sociétés) in 2025.

Her research is positioned at the intersection of economic sociology, social policy and sustainability studies, with a focus on the development of evaluation frameworks to measure multidimensional impacts in socio-ecological transitions. Key thematic areas include welfare systems, energy transitions and food systems, with attention to social, institutional and territorial implications of socio-technical transformations.
Her research adopts an applied and interdisciplinary approach, contributing social science perspectives to technically and economically driven contexts, and supporting policy design, monitoring and decision-making through collaboration with public institutions and stakeholders.
