Tenured associate professors | EN language&linguistics interculturality
Short bio
I am an applied linguist in English Studies with over twenty years of research and teaching experience. I am Director of the Academic Writing Centre, where we lead research on multilingualism in higher education and academic communication. My current research focuses on the impact of artificial intelligence on language, writing, and learning in higher education, which has become a central strand of my work.
My broader research interests include discourse analysis in professional and intercultural contexts, digital discourse, multimodality, metaphor and framing, cognitive semantics, and the linguistic encoding of space and time, with a strong orientation towards English for Specific Purposes. I also lead the research group on Multilingualism and Interculturality within SUNRISE, a European-funded university alliance. I teach at PhD level and supervise MA and PhD research in applied linguistics.
