Short bio
Davide Tommaso Ferrando is an architecture critic and curator, particularly interested in the intersections between architecture, city and digital media. Master in Advanced Architectural Design at ETSA Madrid and Ph.D in Architecture and Building Design at Politecnico di Torino, he is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Design and Art of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
Previously, he was Senior Scientist at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Innsbruck, and adjunct professor at Politecnico di Torino, Università di Ferrara and ETSA Madrid. He is an invited lecturer in universities such as Aarhus School of Architecture, IUAV Venezia, The Berlage Delft and Architectural Association London.
Together with Daniel Tudor Munteanu, since 2016 Davide is the founder and curator of the Unfolding Pavilion: an expanding curatorial project that pops-up in the occasion of the Venice Architecture Biennale. Davide and Daniel are also the curators of the 2022 edition of Beta - Timisoara Architecture Biennial, and of its main exhibition “Another Breach in the Wall”.
Between 2009 and 2019, Davide is the editor of the platform 011+. Currently, he co-directs with Valerio Paolo Mosco the webzine Viceversa, and edits the curated archive Realismoutopico.
Davide is a contributor to “The Architectural Review” and his writings are published in magazines such as “Log”, “Casabella”, “Bauwelt” and “Volume”.
Davide is the author of The City in the Image (Vibok Works, 2018), Another Breach in the Wall (Solitude Project, 2022), Building Stories (Letteraventidue, 2023) and City of Legends: Stanze, Web e Social Network (Krisis Publishing, 2024).
