The laboratory offers a set of practical activities for teaching sociocultural anthropology at school, promoting an “ethnographic” approach to the sociocultural and environmental context of the classroom and encouraging the use of different teaching strategies and methods, particularly the practical ones.

Course Topics
Practical activities and exercises for teaching sociocultural anthropology (or topics in sociocultural anthropology) at school through, for example, the use of artefacts, the organisation of ethnographic and narrative explorations, and the use and production of sociocultural maps. Practical activities and exercises to promote an ethnographic analysis of the sociocultural context and dynamics of the classroom.

Educational objectives
The aim of the laboratory is to train teachers of sociocultural anthropology (or of sociocultural anthropology’s topics) at school who are able to put into practice different teaching methods and strategies, based, for example, on the use of artefacts and of “ethnographic” activities to be carried out in the educational context of the classroom. Expected learning outcomes: - Knowledge and ability to understand and discuss teaching methods, including practical ones, to be applied to the teaching of socio-cultural anthropology at school. - Independent judgement and critical reflection on the experiences gained during the workshop. - Communication skills and ability to use appropriate and scientifically based vocabulary to teach sociocultural anthropology (or topics in sociocultural anthropology) at school through different teaching methods and strategies, including practical ones. - Ability to learn independently further perspectives and teaching methods of sociocultural anthropology.

Oral exam

Evaluation criteria
Understanding the educational objectives of the activities carried out during the workshop. Ability to develop critical thinking about the workshop experience. Ability to design a sociocultural anthropology lesson for a school setting.
