A capsule for the future at the 21.kinderfestival
What would you take with you into the future?
This question inspired the workshop “Giochi-amo così / Wir spielen so: Space Capsules. A mission to tell the future about worlds near and far”, organised by the Faculty of Design and Art together with the Centre for School Inclusion. The workshop took place on 10, 11 and 12 September 2026 as part of the 21.kinderfestival organised by the City of Bolzano.
Through play and drawing, children and their parents were invited to create a space capsule and fill it with things they considered important: elements of nature, objects, memories and much more. The activity encouraged them to reflect on the world we live in and on what we would like to preserve and protect.
The workshop also offered an opportunity to discover the interdisciplinary research project “HERE: Heritage Education. Enhancing Citizenship in Shaped-by-Diversity Regions”. The project explores children’s perspectives on natural and cultural heritage and promotes citizenship practices in a region characterised by rich cultural diversity.
The workshop involved Prof. Sonia Matos and Prof. Ingrid Kofler from the Faculty of Design and Art, as well as Prof. Simone Seitz, Dr Francesca Berti and Dr Ludovica Sebastiano from the Centre for School Inclusion. Irene Delvai and Pia Doreen Rehwald assisted with the workshop activities.
