Short bio
Gianmarco Tavilla is a botanist specializing in the vascular flora of the Mediterranean-Alpine region. With a passion for understanding and conserving plant diversity, his expertise includes vegetation ecology, plant taxonomy, botanical nomenclature, conservation biology, invasive alien species, and GIS-based vegetation mapping, such as using drone imagery to analyze plant communities.
He holds a Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences, and his research focuses on in-depth studies of plant communities, floristic and taxonomic studies. He integrates traditional phytosociological methods with advanced statistical analyses to explore and quantify plant diversity.
He is an active member of the international scientific community, engaged in numerous collaborative efforts, and maintains memberships in several esteemed scientific societies, including the Italian Botanical Society (SBI), the Italian Society of Vegetation Science (SISV), and the Linnean Society of London, of which he is a Fellow.
