The Committee has an advisory role regarding the protection and economic exploitation of the University's intellectual property.
It is responsible for:
- issuing expert opinions on the protection measures to be adopted for an invention based on the Invention Disclosure and on the appropriate filing strategies with regard to geographical protection;
- issuing opinions on possible economic exploitation measures, such as the purchase or sale of property rights, licences, spin-offs;
- conducting a periodic review of the University's patent portfolio;
- providing support in the development of guidelines for the management of intellectual property in the case of research projects funded by third parties.
The University Council decides on the protection measures and the related geographical scope and strategy for exploitation, after obtaining the opinion of the Committee for Intellectual Property.
