Abdul Haleem Butt is an Assistant Professor (RTDa) at the Faculty of Engineering of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, which he joined in 2026. He received his BSc in Computer Engineering from UET Taxila (2008), his MSc in Computer Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) from Dalarna University, Sweden (2012), and his PhD in BioRobotics from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa (2019). He then held postdoctoral positions at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, the University of Bologna and the University of Pavia, and served as Assistant Professor at Air University, Islamabad.
His research develops explainable AI for sensor data in health and environmental applications. This includes early detection of neurological and cardiac conditions, as well as environmental monitoring. His work has been funded through European and national programmes, including EBRAINS 2.0 and Age-IT (PNRR). He welcomes students and colleagues interested in thesis projects or collaboration.
