Short bio
I am a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of Bolzano. Before this, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the Health Economics group at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM). I studied economics at the University of Freiburg and psychology at the University of Hagen, and earned my PhD in economics from the University of Göttingen with a dissertation on “The Causes and Consequences of Violent Conflict.”
My research interests are in political economy, development economics, and behavioral economics, with a particular focus on conflict, organized crime, and health in developing countries. I am broadly motivated to understand how political, economic, and psychological factors shape human behavior and living conditions.
Methodologically, I work with applied microeconometrics and place strong emphasis on causal inference. I often use geospatial data and quasi-experimental approaches as well as laboratory and field experiments.
