Short bio

I’m full professor in Computer Science and I love to do research in symbolic and subsymbolic AI techniques that relate to Semantic Web, Knowledge Engineering and Representation, and Process Mining. Before joining UNIBZ I worked at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), Trento, Italy for over 20 years, where I did head the Process & Data Intelligence (PDI) research unit.

I’ve been involved in the organisation of several conferences. In particular I have served as programme co-chair for EKAW 2018, ISWC 2019 and BPM 2020. I’ve worked in a number of European research projects as well as industrial projects with companies in the Trentino area.

I’m currently vice-president of AIxIA, the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence.
