Analysis and Management of Mountain Ecosystems

Text

Mountain environments are exposed to natural and anthropogenic pressures, and their sustainable management must be based on the understanding of vulnerability and adaptation potential of mountain ecosystems with regard to both environmental and socio-economic changes.

We aim to understand the effects of natural and anthropogenic disturbances on the functioning of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems at a local and global level. We also study theoretical and applied aspects of ecosystem restoration and sustainable use of resources.

Covered topics

  • Ecosystem Functioning and Climate Change
  • Basic and Applied Aspects of Mountain Ecosystem Restoration
  • Mountain Ecosystem Services and Environmental Economics
  • River Basin Dynamics and Natural Hazards Mitigation
  • Management of Microbe and Insect Communities in Mountain Land Use Systems
  • Mountain Forest Productivity and Management
