Free University of Bozen-Bolzano

Faculty of Economics and Management

Our business is to carry out innovative research and train excellent economists who can understand and interpret the complexity of socio-economic and political processes in the 21st century.

Faculty description

More than 1,100 students are enrolled in our faculty, whose strength lies in its international outlook and the trilingualism - Italian German, English - of its study programmes, which prepare our students to operate in a global context. The ideal ratio of students and lecturers - more than 60 faculty members from nine different countries - guarantees that all students are supervised in every stage of their study career. Support to students is guaranteed by the limited number of students we select and by regular office hours. Each lecturer provides tutoring for no more than 8 students.

Our best students will be added to the Dean’s list. Appearing in this list can be an excellent asset when students apply for internships and jobs.

The faculty ranked among the top 200 in the world in the 2025 Times Higher Education Business and economics subject ranking which places unibz 3rd among Italian universities. In the national ranking of the Censis Institute, the faculty is ranked second among non-state universities in Italy for the bachelor programmes.

Partnerships

We are working closely with companies, public and private institutions both for our research and our teaching. We have also established long-term partnerships with start-up companies and their networks, such as local business incubator Vitamin, and with large local companies like Röchling Automotive, Salewa, Durst and Miele.

In addition, we have developed innovative forms of collaboration with Assoimprenditori Alto Adige, IDM and the Bozen-Bolzano Chamber of Commerce, in order to promote the integration of teaching, research and work experience. Thanks to our exchange and inter-university collaboration programmes, we are part of a network including more than 50 universities.
