This page describes the policy implemented with regard to the processing of the personal data of users consulting the website. This information notice is provided pursuant to Article 13 of Italian Legislative Decree No. 196/2003 (Personal Data Protection Code) and is addressed to all individuals who interact with the web service that can be accessed online via www.unibz.it – the home page of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano website.

Place of data processing

The processing operations related to the web services of this website are performed at the registered office of the University and are only carried out by the technical personnel in charge of processing or by persons carrying out occasional maintenance who have been properly trained in privacy matters. In this regard the University may use the services of external companies, consultants, consortia, and providers of software and operating services by means of identified and assigned personnel in the context of the envisaged aims and in order to ensure the maximum possible data security.
No data derived from the web service will be communicated or broadcast. The personal data provided by users submitting requests for information material will be used solely to provide the service or assistance requested and will only be communicated to third parties insofar as this is necessary for such purposes. Personal data may be communicated outside the University for purposes related to the development of its institutional activities to other public bodies (e.g. the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, the Regional Agency for the Right to University Study, the Regional Observatory for Universities and the Right to University Study, the Ministry of Finance) that manage the provision of research and/or study grants or that promote studies and research, university development projects or services for the right to study.
Personal data will also be reported to the bank that, in agreement with the University, manages the procedure for collecting university-related taxes and contributions. Personal data will also be communicated by the University, both during students’ university careers and following their graduation, to external persons, agencies and associations for the purpose of initiatives aimed at their guidance and inclusion in the workplace and for postgraduate training activities.

Types of data processed

Browsing data
The computer systems and software procedures used to run this website during normal operation will acquire certain personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of internet communication protocols. Such information is not collected in order to be associated with identified interested parties, but rather could by its very nature permit users to be identified via processing operations and associations with data held by third parties. This category of data includes the IP addresses or domain names of computers utilised by users connecting to the site, addresses of the requested resources in URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) form, the time of the request, the method used in submitting the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in reply, the numerical code indicating the status of the reply given by the server (success, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the user’s operating system and computer environment.
Such data will be used solely for the purpose of obtaining anonymous statistical information on site usage and to monitor its correct functioning, and will be deleted immediately after processing. The data may be used to ascertain liability in the hypothesis of computer crimes directed against the site: otherwise the data on web contacts will not be held beyond the time required to meet the requests made.

Data provided voluntarily by users
The optional, specific and voluntary sending of e-mail to the addresses given on this website will entail the subsequent acquisition of the sender’s address, which is required to respond to requests, as well as any other personal data inserted in the e-mail. Such processing will nevertheless in all cases be based upon the principles of correctness, lawfulness and transparency and the protection of confidentiality as set out in Legislative Decree no. 196/2003.
Personal data will not be disclosed to third parties; if requested, however, such data must be made available to the postal and communications police, the judicial authorities and the criminal investigation police.

Optional provision of data

Apart from the data required for browsing, users are free to provide the personal data indicated when contacting the University in order to request the sending of information material or other communications. If such data is not provided, it may not be possible to meet the request. In general, therefore, the provision of data is optional, but failure to provide such data may affect access to, use and provision of online services, as well as the quality of the requested service. Personal data that users provide voluntarily (such as that provided by students) gathered upon enrolment and registration, or by any subsequent means of collection, will be processed by the University in order to carry on its own institutional activities within the limits established by law and the relevant regulations, as well as in accordance with the general principles of transparency, correctness and confidentiality required by the rules governing privacy.

Processing methods

Personal data will be processed using automated tools only for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which such data has been collected. Specific security measures are observed to prevent data loss, illicit or incorrect use or any unauthorised access. Rights of interested parties Persons to whom the personal data relates have the right at any time to obtain confirmation of the existence or otherwise of such data and to establish its content and origin, verify its accuracy or request its completion, updating or correction (Art. 7 of Legislative Decree no. 196/2003).
Pursuant to said article, such persons shall also have the right to request the deletion, anonymization or blocking of data processed in violation of the law, and in all cases to object on legitimate grounds to the processing of such data. Such requests may be made free of charge, without any special formalities, to the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano via the contact information available on the website itself or via the following e-mail address: privacy@unibz.it.

Given that automatic control mechanisms are liable to error or malfunction, it should be noted while that this document, published at the following address, shall constitute the “Privacy Policy” of this site, it may be subject to modification. Such changes may also be necessary as a consequence of evolutions in information technology or of regulatory developments.

Links to other sites

The University website may contain links to other web sites that it does not itself manage: it will not share any personal data of which it is the controller with such websites. The University is not responsible for the content or security measures used by other sites and expressly disclaims all liability in this regard.
