Short bio

Indrė Umbrasaitė is an architect active in practice and academia, working on projects that embrace architecture in communication with art, design and curatorship. Drawing on landscape thinking to articulate contemporary »naturescultures«, Indrė explores alternative spatial metrics through interdisciplinary collaborations and diverse educational settings. Her ongoing research (Doctoral School of Architecture, TU Graz) focuses on the »time-space« of winter.

Indrė attended the M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art and studied interior design and architecture in Vilnius, Lahti and Vienna, receiving her Master's degree from Studio Zaha Hadid. She has held positions in architecture offices in Vilnius, Salzburg and Vienna, and has been an assistant professor at Studio Kazuyo Sejima (Angewandte Vienna) and the Institute of Architecture and Landscape (TU Graz), as well as a lecturer at the ATTP (TU Vienna) as part of Studio SOL. Indrė is the editor of several publications on architecture and education, and is a member of the interdisciplinary collaboration MIT Climate Visions. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012 (Syn-Anti-Clastic), 2018 (The Swamp School), 2025 (Wetland Games), and Critical Zones at ZKM Karlsruhe in 2020–21, among others.
