The Italian language course at B1 level is aimed at enhancing the students’ language skills by working with materials related to the world of design and art.

Course Topics
The course is designed taking into account the Communicative Approach and it is aimed to facilitate a fluent communication in Italian as a Foreign Language; furthermore, the course focuses on the 4 language skills that are necessary to communicate in Italian. The course is designed to acquire the basic knowledge of lexicon and language constructions in the field of design and art.

Teaching format
Lessons and meetings are based on the Communicative Approach and students participate in an active way. Teaching methodology emphasizes student cooperation and participation through individual, pair and group work.

Educational objectives
Knowledge and understanding The acquisition of language skills to communicate fluently in the Italian language Applying knowledge and understanding To have the ability to communicate fluently in the Italian language The acquisition of the basic language knowledge necessary to orientate within the culture of design in Italy The production of written texts: descriptions, emails, summaries, opinions about authentic articles Making judgments Participating critical in discussions on various topics, especially within the fields of design and art. Communication skills Communicating fluently and presenting design projects at a professional level in Italian Learning skills Ability to pursue autonomous learning

Assessment
Written exam: competence in reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar. A monolingual dictionary is permitted. Project: students are preparing an autonomous work that takes into account the communicative aspects covered at lesson. Oral discussion: oral discussion of the previously prepared project N.B. ALL THE STUDENTS ATTENDING THE EXAM AS NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS MUST AGREE UPON THE CONTENTS WITH THE INSTRUCTOR.

Evaluation criteria
Written exam (50%) - Project + Oral exam (50%) Threshold: 9/15 written; 9/15 oral Evaluation criteria are clarity of answers, mastery and correctness of language, ability to summarize, evaluate, and establish relationships between topics.
