Short bio
My research explores the teaching and learning of computing across all educational levels. I focus on designing and studying innovative pedagogical approaches and tools, including informal learning contexts and interactive/immersive learning experiences. My work also focuses on learning analytics, AI in computing education. I explore the social and global challenges shaping computing education, with a strong commitment to broadening participation and diversity and advancing the professional development of computing educators. I lead HOLA, the Hands-On Laboratory for computing education research, a research space that integrates a controlled research environment and a conducive classroom setting. HOLA also provides a broad selection of cutting-edge tools designed for learning programming concepts at any age through a hands-on approach, whether unplugged or plugged in
