At unibz, sustainability is addressed through a holistic, university-wide approach structured across five interlinked action areas: studies, research, societal engagement, operations, and organisational culture. Each area is supported by an interdisciplinary working group and coordinated by the university’s Sustainability Committee. This integrated structure ensures that sustainability is not treated as an isolated topic but embedded across academic, operational, and community dimensions.
In practice, this means that sustainability research is conducted in all faculties and promoted through dedicated projects and alliances. Our study programmes actively integrate sustainability aspects into their curricula, equipping students with the skills needed for a sustainable future. Operational efforts focus on energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, procurement, and food services. Organisational culture is fostered through social sustainability initiatives, including gender equality and family-friendly policies. Finally, we actively engage with society through communication, knowledge transfer, and collaboration with stakeholders—ensuring that our impact extends beyond campus.
