Free University of Bozen-Bolzano

Master in

Industrial Mechanical Engineering

The aim of this two-year programme is to provide you with a sound knowledge of mechanical engineering, combining traditional engineering courses with management modules.

Course description

The course aims at training professionals who are able to work confidently in areas of engineering that are traditionally separate, such as: mechanical design, mechatronics, automation, management and logistics. You can choose between two specialisations: “Mechanics and Automation” or “Logistics and Production”. The latter is offered in partnership with the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg (OvGU) with the possibility to obtain a double degree.

Exchange programmes and internships

Currently we offer exchange programmes with almost 20 partner universities all over the world and is part of a large network of collaboration with employers in Italy and abroad where you can undertake your internship.

Career opportunities

Graduates are working in the industrial mechanical area in: research and development, product design and development, tooling, automation technology, production system and machine design, procurement, production, operations management, internal and external logistics and quality assurance. The course provides students with the tools to pursue a career as a consultant or to work in manufacturing, mechanical and mechatronic companies, in energy production and conversion, automation, robotics or in the civil service. Our graduates design and produce tools, engines, machines and other mechanical equipment and/or manage materials procurement, operations and logistics.

Marco Unterhofer

Student

During my  internship in the automotive sector, I found out  what international companies expect from young graduates: language skills, subject-specific knowledge and the ability to work in multicultural environments are the main points. The master in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering, which allows you  to graduate at the same time at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and at the University of Magdeburg through the double degree program, in my opinion is the best one that offers an adequate preparation to fulfill all these requirements.
