This seminar explores how economic, health, and ethical factors shape public support for Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD), the practice of intentionally ending one’s life with medical assistance. Using three survey experiments with U.S. participants, the study investigates how perceptions of patient well-being, societal impacts, and moral judgments influence support for MAiD. Findings reveal that while both health and financial declines reduce perceived well-being, financial hardships generate less support than health impairments. Participants were also more supportive of MAiD when poor health outcomes were medically unavoidable rather than due to financial constraints, highlighting the dominant role of health and ethical considerations over economic ones in shaping public attitudes.
