Historical economics is concerned with economic change over time. It investigates issues such as why certain nations experience economic growth or fall behind, why economic inequality persists, causes of populations change and migration, and how business organisation shapes economic performance. The ability to frame questions about complex economic, social and political environments in the past is a powerful tool to answer similar questions about current global economic developments and crises. This international workshop provides a top-quality forum for economic historians from Europe and the United States to interact and discuss their current cutting-edge research.
