Today the grounded theory method has become a dominant qualitative approach used by an increasing number of social scientists across disciplines such as nursing, education, sociology, leisure and tourism. However, the different versions of grounded theory such as the ones advocated by Glaser, Strauss and Corbin, and Charmaz, amongst others, may be puzzling to many as to what grounded theory really is. This seminar introduces the grounded theory method, clarifies its ambiguous status, and explains its core procedures.
