Energy is a key driver of climate change and addressing it requires a deeper understanding of how energy consumption, production, and trade are determined. A critical but often neglected aspect in empirical work is the role of interdependencies. Spatial econometric methods provide powerful tools to estimate and analyze such interdependencies.

Organized within the PRIN 2022 PNRR research project “Consumer behavior, digital platforms and spatial spillover effects in a dual electricity market (SPEX)” will bring together leading experts in spatial econometrics and energy economics to foster the exchange of ideas and showcase new contributions in both fields and at their intersections. Particular attention will be given to the importance of high-quality energy data, which forms the foundation of any empirical analysis.

Participation is open to scholars, students, and practitioners interested in econometrics, energy economics and energy data.
