The Equal Opportunities Committee of the Free University of Bolzano is organizing the event "Women in Academia".

The event offers reflection and debate on academic careers and the representation of women in universities.

The challenges are diverse: inherited cultural structures, social obstacles, economic inequality, and the difficulty of balancing career and personal life.

There will be the opportunity to listen to some of the leading scholars and experts in the field, and ample space will be given to the voices of younger generations of women in academia, such as researchers and doctoral students.

The Gender Equality Plans implementing the European Commission's Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 are an important tool for initiating structural change, which is still underway.

EU Directive 2023/970 on transparency and equal pay, which will take operational effect this June, could also be a tool for achieving change.
