Short bio

Stefano Riba is a multifaceted cultural producer, involved in areas such as curating, project management, exhibition installation, writing for journalistic articles, essays and project proposals for grants and funding tenders. During the early part of his career, he primarily worked institutionally, collaborating, particularly in the areas of project management and art handling, with: Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Museum Ludwig Köln, Fondazione Merz, Castello di Rivoli, Hangar Bicocca, Manifesta 9 Genk, Biennale di Venezia, Galleria Giorgio Persano. In the same period he wrote articles and reviews for Flash Art, Alias, Il Manifesto, Artribune and Exhibart.
From the 2010s onwards, his interest moved towards more independent cultural production practices that prioritize the involvement of young creatives and environmental, political, and social themes. In 2011 Stefano Riba was co-founder of PrintAboutMe Micro-Press, an independent publishing house, and, in the same year, he founded Van Der, a non commercial exhibition space based in Torino. Between 2014 and 2018, Riba curated Passi Erratici, a series of yearly artist residencies, the final results of which proposed non-stereotypical visions of the Alpine landscape.
Since 2018 he's been living and working in Bolzano collaborating with the Free University of Bolzano (contract lecturer), Ar/Ge Kunst (project management and art handling), Foto Forum (board member and curatorial work), and SMACH (project management, funding acquisition, cultural project development).
