Biosüdtirol Employee Project: Engage employees to co-create a preferable working environment

An organic apple farmer cooperative wants to expand its values upon all employees.

text

When our project partner Biosüdtirol came to us with the challenge to better integrate the seasonal workers of the packaging department, we initiated a participatory process to build up trust and gain insights into the problems and issues of the company and its employees. Through a variety of data-gathering artefacts, personal interviews and interventions we dived in and managed to take a look behind the scenes of an organic apple farming cooperative. As a conclusion we handed over a catalogue proposing different implementations based on our findings. This can be seen as a first step towards empowering the often marginalized seasonal employees in the agricultural sector to take a more active part in designing and renegotiating the conditions they work in.
