Michael Gusenbauer is an assistant professor at Johannes Kepler University Linz whose work bridges innovation management and research methodology. He has published widely on systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and (AI-supported) knowledge identification, with several contributions recognized as highly cited and featured in leading journals such as Journal of Management Studies, Scientometrics, and Nature. As founder of Searchsmart.org and Associate Review Editor of Technological Forecasting & Social Change, he brings both methodological expertise and practical tools to help scholars conduct comprehensive, transparent, and impactful reviews.

In this seminar, Michael Gusenbauer shows what good sampling looks like, why many reviews still fall short, and how systematicity builds the foundation for impactful reviews. Drawing on a recently published step-by-step guide to literature sampling and the latest insights on AI use, he outlines how to improve search strategies and avoid common pitfalls. He also provides an outlook on current debates about generativity and how to create reviews that truly matter.

The seminar will be held in English.
