I explore the power dynamics in intangible-intensive business models. Specifically, I analyze how platform leaders leverage data and intellectual property to extract value and exercise quasi-sovereign orchestration over global value chains. Moving from diagnosis to prescription, I examine the institutional mechanisms required to curtail Big Tech’s influence and cultivate a more digitally democratic society.
