The course illustrates aspects of scientific dissemination in institutional settings and public engagement, with particular attention to social participation, democratisation of science and knowledge transfer.

Course Topics
The course is intended as a follow-up, adopting an applied approach, to previous courses on techniques and tools for documenting and disseminating the research activities. The course will take place mainly in a laboratory form, with the aim of supporting students to develop the dissemination and public engagement aspects of their phd projects. The lecturer(s) will use examples from their ongoing research/professional projects in order to share common issues and engage problem-solving and discussion.

Educational objectives
Students will acquire: Knowledge and skills relating to communication, scientific dissemination, public engagement, and the third mission; Knowledge and skills relevant to a future academic career, including knowledge of the Italian system and possible international options.

Assessment
Written project outline. The topic/contents will be defined with the students during the course, according to their research interests.

Evaluation criteria
The course is Pass or Fail. Contents will be evaluated based on innovation, relevance and feasibility.

Required readings

Students taking the course are advised to study the working materials and filmography presented or suggested in the classroom.
