The course focuses on social space-related and community-orientated strategies and methods of social work as well as on new approaches to eco-social transformation, their historical and current developments and theoretical justifications.

Social space and social work; resources and restrictions of social space; eco-social social work and sustainability; social space analysis; transdisciplinary and activating research in the community; traditions and approaches of community work; lifeworld orientation and community work; activation and promotion of participation; categorical community work; solidarity economy

Teaching format
Lecture; seminar-style teaching; guided self-study; project work

Educational objectives
Basic understanding of social space orientation and community work as working principles of social work as well as the new discourses and approaches of eco-social social work. Students understand the approaches of community- and social space-orientated social work and can transfer these to specific fields of action and research. They understand the theoretical foundations and approaches to eco-social transformation in the context of social work.

Professionally critical view and attitude; consistently resource-orientated work; connection with civil society and new eco-social approaches

Assessment
Research-based written project development and oral presentation

Evaluation criteria
Active participation in the course; written development of a project design; theory-practice transfer; non-participating students receive additional reading work
