Taking into account the urgent measures taken by the local government for the prevention and management of the epidemiological emergency due to Covid-19, we inform you that from tomorrow, 4 November 2020, and for the time being until 22 November 2020, all courses - including lectures, practical exercises, teaching activities in the laboratories and workshops - as well as the examinations must take place exclusively online. Therefore, in accordance with the provision, the University will now close its buildings to students, with the exception of PhD students. Excluded from this is the access to the University Library, which will continue in its present form for the time being.
Lecturers are thus required to hold their courses and examinations exclusively online. They have the possibility to use the unibz lecture halls to stream the courses.
With regard to the research activities, a further announcement will follow after the new regulations (decree of the President of the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano and decree of the President of the Council of Ministers) have been published.
The Unibar is also closed for the above-mentioned period.
See here Rector's decree n. 1031, a new one will follow shortly
Thanks to the cooperation between the Rectorate, the Managing Director, the Faculties and the administrative services involved, the planning of teaching activities for the first semester of the academic year 2020/21 has been completed:
Further details and information will follow directly from the Faculties in the coming weeks.
The University has entered the second phase of the current situation with new provisions regarding distance teaching and curricular activities including internships following the measures introduced to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
With reference to the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers from 26.04.2020 and the emergency measures of the President of the Provincial Government no. 23/2020 from 26.04.2020, which contain further measures for the prevention and management of the epidemiological emergency caused by Covid-19, we inform you about the future situation at unibz.
As of 4 May 2020, the so-called phase 1 of the lockdown will move into phase 2, in which the first re-opening measures will take place at the university. They will be constantly adapted to the latest developments of the situation. In September 2020, the transition to phase 3 should take place with a further relaxation of restrictions and partial resumption of regular teaching activities. Information on this will be provided on an ongoing basis in accordance with epidemiological developments and the relevant legal provisions.
In principle, the university will remain closed to the public and thus also to students in phase 2 (from 4 May to 31 August 2020) until further notice. Administrative and teaching activities will continue in online mode as before. Gradually, however, laboratory activities in the research laboratories and research activities in the field can be taken up.
Enclosed, you will find an overview of the first measures that will be implemented in phase 2 for the university community (All information is now also available at http://covid.unibz.it):
For teaching, research and administrative staff, the previous form of tele- or smart working will continue in May. Further procedures depend on epidemiological evolutions and legal provisions.
If absolutely necessary and unpostponable, teaching, research and administrative staff as well as PhD students can enter unibz, in compliance with strict security guidelines and after obtaining permission via PIS entry.
The buildings must be accessed via the main entrance and, where available, left via the side entrances. Further information will be available shortly.
Visiting researchers and professors with unibz campus card are subject to the same regulations of the unibz teaching and research staff.
Teaching will continue until the end of August in form of online lectures.
Both oral and written exams will take place online during this time, including the language examinations. Please continue to follow the measures foreseen by the Prorector for Teaching.
For the time being, we ask the faculties to continue the planning of teaching for autumn. In the course of the months of May/June, a decision will be made, based on further legal developments, as to how lectures will be held during the first semester of the academic year 2020/21 (online/blended learning/presential classes/mixed mode).
Internships are generally continued or started in teleworking. If the activities of the internship are not or only partially compatible with teleworking, the internship can be carried out on site, provided that a) local, national and foreign legal regulations allow it and b) strict safety precautions are observed.
As of 4 May 2020, unibz research laboratories will re-open at the Bolzano campus, the NOI Techpark and the Laimburg.
Laboratory activities in the research laboratories will be carried out in compliance with strict safety regulations. Detailed information will be available shortly in the corresponding guidelines.
Access to the research laboratories is granted for prioritized research activities and is open to professors, researchers, PhD students, laboratory technicians and master students working on their thesis. The necessity of the research activities must be clarified in advance with the scientific supervisor (for researchers, Phd students and students with master’s thesis research) and the laboratory manager. Access to the laboratories will then be requested and officially approved via a PIS entry. You will receive detailed information shortly.
The didactics laboratories will not re-open in phase 2. We ask the teaching staff to take measures where possible to offer students a substitute programme (e.g. exercise films and instructions for exercises at home).
As of 4 May 2020, essential research activities in the field can be carried out outdoors under strict safety precautions. The corresponding PIS entry must be requested and approved in advance by the scientific supervisor (for researchers, PhD students and students with master’s thesis research). You will receive detailed information shortly.
All events planned in phase 2 will be cancelled but can be offered in digital form if applicable. Please contact the Press and Event Management Office.
The premises of the university libraries will remain closed until 31 May. However, you can reserve media which will be handed over at the university entrance at defined collection times and completely contactless. A media pick-up service for academic staff will be offered at the Welcome Desk.
In the course of May, according to the evolutions of the epidemiological emergency and legal provisions, you will receive specific information on further gradual opening measures of unibz. All information on our services can be found here.
In accordance with the Decree of the Prime Minister of 10 April 2020 and the Emergency Measure of the Governor of the Province No 20/2020 of 13.04.2020, the measures for the prevention and management of the epidemiological emergency caused by Covid-19 were essentially extended until 3 May 2020. As a result, the preventive measures implemented by unibz to ensure the safety and health of the university community are extended until further notice.
The Governor of the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano has decided to lift the regulation for which outside sport activities were allowed only in a 200 m-radius from your home. Sport activities are therefore now possible if you stay alone in the area of your home and always keeping a right distance with anyone else you might meet. This is not the case for the municipality of Bozen-Bolzano.
Please note that the mayor of Bozen-Bolzano has decided that, if you live in the municipality of Bozen-Bolzano, you can still only engage in outside sport activities inside a 400 m-radius from your home.
In accordance with the decree of the Prime Minister of 1 April 2020 and emergency measure of the Governor of the Province No. 16/2020 of 2 April 2020, the measures for the prevention and management of the epidemiological emergency caused by Covid-19 were extended until 13 April 2020.
The extension of the deadline therefore also concerns the preventive measures implemented by unibz to ensure the safety and health of the university community.
