unibz has an organizational structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities in the field of Quality Assurance (QA), as established in the Statute and the University’s QA guidelines.
The University Council (UC) is the highest governing body and defines the University’s overall strategic direction and quality policy. Its main responsibilities include promoting and periodically reviewing the Quality Policy, ensuring appropriate processes to address the needs of stakeholders, approving the Strategic Plan and the annual planning, as well as the guidelines for the establishment, revision, and updating of Degree courses.
The Academic Senate develops and coordinates activities in teaching, research, and third mission/societal impact; it issues opinions on regulations, the Strategic Plan, academic appointments, and organizational structures.
The President convenes and chairs the UC, proposes to the UC (after consultation with the Senate) the establishment or closure of academic structures, and, together with the Rector and the Director, concludes the strategic and financial plan with the Autonomous Province of Bolzano-Bozen. The President appoints, in agreement with the Rector, the Coordinator of the Quality Committee.
The Rector chairs the Academic Senate, reports to the UC on the achievement of objectives, and coordinates agreements and targets with the Deans and the Heads of academic structures.
The Vice-Rectors (Teaching; Research and Innovation) support the Rector in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of activities in teaching and in research/third mission, respectively.
The Director leads the central administrative structure, coordinates the University’s support services, and contributes to the definition and monitoring of administrative and financial objectives.
The Research Committee and the Studies Committee carry out planning and coordination functions, propose criteria for the allocation of resources, and provide opinions on programmes and regulations at University level.
The Quality Committee supports the University Governance in defining and implementing the Quality Assurance system: it coordinates and standardizes QA procedures, organizes guidelines and training activities, collects and disseminates monitoring data, manages the collection of student feedback, and prepares the annual report on the effectiveness of the system.
The Evaluation Committee performs a second-level control function: it verifies the functioning of the QA system and of the tools developed by the Quality Committee, carries out independent evaluations, and prepares periodic reports. It also serves as the interface with the Ministry and ANVUR.
The Student Representation is present in all governing bodies and ensures the active participation of students in decision-making processes and academic policies; the Student Council coordinates the representatives and acts as an advisory body on teaching provision and services.
The Technical-administrative staff is organized into University Management and Staff Units, Central Services, and Faculty Secretariats. These units provide administrative, technical, and organizational support to teaching, research, and third Mission activities; they are responsible for resource management, the preparation of QA documentation, and operational support for accreditation procedures.
