Semester 2 · 17265 · Bachelor in Communication Sciences and Culture · 6CP · IT

The sociology of culture course is geared towards providing the main tools for a sociological approach to culture through the major exponents of the critical sociology of industrial and post-industrial society.

The aim of the course is to provide students with a sociological perspective and an adequate mastery of general scientific methods and content with respect to culture, its relevance in terms of social coexistence and understanding of reality.

The course also aims to initiate a critical approach to cultural phenomena through a socio-logical reflection on the symbolic, structural and aesthetic aspects in different contexts and to develop the students' ability to make autonomous judgements regarding cultural manifestations in relation to the social dynamics of power and the new challenges to be faced in the digital age.
