This course aims to offer students an in-depth study of social service methods. Based on the syllabus of social service methods 1 and some theoretical background knowledge, this course aims to deepen the methodological procedure and techniques of social work, the professional help process and the main intervention instruments, as well as the transversal key competences of professional social work.

Course Topics
- the social service between social policies, organisation of services and professionalism - The participatory methodological process: reflexivity evaluation and self-evaluation; - Communication in socialwork - Social service methods and their theoretical framework; - The key competences of the professional social service; - Networking and partnership building intra- and inter-professional collaboration; - The code of ethics: ethical dilemmas in social service practice social service practice; - The legal and deontological responsibilities of the social worker; - The tools of the social service in the helping process and in network work with particular attention to the professional interview professional interview; - The professional interview and the helping process based on the of the systemic model; social and inter-professional work; -- Control and help in social interventions; - Emotionality and ethical dilemmas in the helping relationship;

Educational objectives
Knowledge and understanding of of the methodological procedure in general and in particular using the systemic model, applied to professional social work in the various fields of intervention; knowledge and understanding of the main professional tools as well as the legal and professional responsibilities of the social worker. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding Ability to analyse proposed concrete situations using the keys provided in the course. Ability to understand differences and similarities in the analysis of practical situations using several keys of interpretation. Ability to translate the proposed theoretical knowledge into practice. Autonomy of judgement The ability to analyse situations by considering multiple perspectives stimulates an analysis of one's own attachments and prejudices, and in this sense fosters the development of independent thinking. This competence will be fundamental in the construction of a reflective professionalism required of social workers operating in increasingly complex contexts and fields of intervention. Communication skills Students will learn to develop arguments based on scientific and professional foundations. They should also acquire the ability to use professional language (oral and written). The development of specific communication skills will be a fundamental part of the course with regard to both the social worker/person-family relationship and the wider professional context (collaboration with other services, work organisation, socio-political level).

Assessment
The achievement of the expected learning outcomes will be verified by the following methods: - Written work (practical exercise to be done at home); - collaboration and active presence during lessons; - supplementary oral interview as a review of the experience and course content;

Evaluation criteria
Awarding of a single final mark composed as follows: - Written paper (40%): the following are considered and assessed: relevance to the task, logical structure, clarity of argument, professional language, ability to reflect and rework theoretical notions, formal correctness, critical analysis; - Oral examination (40%): the following are considered and assessed: relevance to the task, logical structure, clarity of argument, capacity for critical analysis, reflective ability and self-reflection; - Collaboration and active participation (20%): active participation in lectures and proposed exercises;
