The course Methodology and Didactics in DaF Teaching II is based on legal requirements (framework guidelines for Italian primary schools in South Tyrol) and enables students to plan, develop, implement and reflect on language support measures for DaF teaching in Italian primary schools. The course follows on from the content of the course Methodology and Didactics in DaF I.

Lecture with exercises, partly in group work

Educational objectives
Reflect on relevant language acquisition processes and psychology aspects for DaZ/DaF teaching in primary schools; knowledge of contrastive language acquisition German-Italian

Additional educational objectives and learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding Students have a solid knowledge of the topics covered in the course; they can independently and competently explore new academic resources in depth and analyse and evaluate them with regard to their relevance and applicability in their professional field. Applying knowledge and understanding Students can analyse and reflect on the knowledge they have acquired and apply it to their teaching practice at school; they can successfully use the content of the course in their everyday professional life. Judgement Students will be able to analyse the language policy strategies adopted in South Tyrol in the area of L2 acquisition and L2 didactics and make a reflective judgement; they will be able to communicate didactic decisions on the subject matter appropriately to teachers and their pupils; they will be able to express themselves in an adequate and scientifically sound manner on the topics covered in the course and answer related questions. Communication Students are able to communicate strategic decisions in the subject area appropriately to parents, guardians and pupils; they are able to express themselves in an adequate and scientifically sound manner and answer questions appropriately. Learning strategies Students are able to analyse and critically question their own learning strategies with regard to language acquisition; they have a professional approach to the available scientific resources and can combine new findings with their knowledge and thus generate new knowledge.
